Strawberry Banana Smoothie Bowl

Strawberry Banana Smoothie Bowl

Smoothie bowl time! I absolutely love smoothie bowls! In fact, I find I can eat them for breakfast, lunch, a snack, or even a healthy dessert! This smoothie bowl is super simple that comes together in minutes, making it the ultimate anytime meal.

I love smoothies. I also love bowls. Any type of bowl in general is just so pretty! So a few nights ago, my mom and I took a cooking class on food bowls. The lady instructing the class showed us how to make 4 different types of bowls. The bowls consisted of pure yummy and healthy stuff with ingredients from brown rice, to avocado, to edamame. Seriously, these where some of the best bowls I have ever eaten! Aside from the amazing food, the lady instructing the class had a ton of really interesting facts that I am going to share with you just because I can.

  1. There have been studies on turmeric that turmeric helps with digestion, inflammation, and reduces the risk of Alzheimer’s. (Literally this is science backed up info! Crazy right?!)
  2. After eating a bunch of the same food for awhile, your brain stops tasting the food. This is why when you are having a steak, red wine is often served to cleanse the pallet.
  3. A long time ago, like 100-200 years ago,  peasants would have actually been eating healthier than the wealthy! For example lets use rice. The wealthy would eat white rice, because it was considered the “clean” rice, while the peasants would then be eating the brown rice. And FYI white rice is just like brown rice without the nutrients. <– Ever since I have heard this stat I have been trying to take brown rice instead of white rice, but it can be hard! Like I walk into Chipotle and I always order there uber good cilantro lime white rice, but now I have been ordering brown rice and its tough… I mean does anyone know of like a 30 day challenge of choosing brown rice over white rice? If so please let me know!!! (If not there really should be… These days it feels like there is a 30 day challenge for everything…)

OK sorry, I got a little side tracked there. My point is this: Bowls can really yummy, really pretty, and really good for you, just like this smoothie bowl! Now, just like all bowls, this smoothie bowl is really adaptable to your own taste. Want blueberries instead of strawberries? Change it out! Want both? Put them on in! For toppings I used fruit, granola (well actually Trader Joe’s Vanilla Almond Clusters, but ya know), and chia seeds, but really anything works! Go crazy! Let your imagination run wild!
